Speaker Zeb Welborn at Shark Boot Camp

As you may recall, I was recently invited to speak at the Shark Boot Camp event held at the Balboa Bay Club on November 9.

The event was full of great guest speakers, including entrepreneurs who had appeared on the hit ABC TV Show Shark Tank, like Shelly Ehler from ShowNo Towels, Michelle Kapustka from SendaBall, Mike Robinson from Cuddletunes, Mona Weiss from Eco Nuts, Nick Romero from The Ave., Brandon Marz from Marz Sprays.

They also had numerous other speakers on business including Mike Cordes from Viral Booth, Peter Mehit author of Killer Business Plan, Aggie Kobrin from Funder Way, Rey Ybarra, author of Conversations with Shark Tank Winners and former Defining Success Podcast guest, Rey Ybarra, TJ Hale, host of the Shark Tank Podcast and former Defining Success Podcast guest, K.J. from Smartphone Trainers, and Dan Fowler from Red River Productions.

The speaking engagement provided me a great opportunity to interact with other fans of the show and share my expertise when it came to interacting and communicating with the guests who had been on the show itself.  Plus, it’s always great to reconnect with others who have appeared on the Defining Success Podcast like Rey Ybarra and TJ Hale.

Another great benefit of the event was the new connections I was able to establish with the people who attended the event.  One of our future episodes will include an interview with Shelly Ehler, the owner of ShowNo and several others who may make their way into the Defining Success Podcast.

I’d especially like to thank Aggie Kobrin for inviting me to the event and hope to be involved in future opportunities.

Board of Advisors for EZeeGolf

As listeners of the Defining Success Podcast, you may remember Steve Fluke (Episode 45: Listen to Your Market).  Steve was the owner of EZeeGolf.  EZeeGolf is a golf club that can propel the ball without a traditional golf swing.  The club acts more like a gun where you press a button and can hit your ball between 50 and 225 yards down the fairway.

The main goal of EZeeGolf is to help golfers who can no longer enjoy the game because of their physical limitations enjoy the great game of golf.  By using this tool golfers who can no longer swing because of shoulder problems, disabilities, or old age can now still get out on the golf course and enjoy a round with their friends and family.

After our interview on the Defining Success Podcast, Steve and I have gotten to know each other much better, so much so that Steve invited me to be on the Board of Advisors for EZeeGolf.  In my current position, I’ll be working with Steve to help increase and enhance the online and social media presence of EZeeGolf in a consulting role.  If you haven’t checked out EZeeGolf, please do.  You can visit their the EZeeGolf website, Facebook page, and/or YouTube page.

EZeeGolf

I’m really looking forward to working with Steve and EZeeGolf to help those individuals who enjoy the game continue to get out on the golf course and enjoy the experience with their families and friends.

If you have any ideas about how we can market and promote EZeeGolf, please let us know on the Defining Success Podcast Facebook page.  We’d love to hear your thoughts about this new golf club!

The Kingdom Net: Learning to Network Like Jesus

The Kingdom Net: Learning to Network Like Jesus by Dr. Joseph Castleberry was recently made available and we’re excited to give the listeners of the Defining Success Podcast the opportunity to check it out.

If you’re interested in learning about marketing or becoming a marketing expert, it’s important to learn from the best.  Jesus used networking not for his own selfish needs but to be of service to others.  Dr. Joseph Castleberry explores the necessities of networking and how you can use it to apply to all aspects of your life in his new book.

The greatest networker in history was Jesus Christ. Beginning with a team of three close friends and a dozen followers, He created an organization that today has over 2 billion members.

Jesus networked for a single purpose: to introduce people to the kingdom of God. No product, service, or personal friendship can meet the needs of people more completely than ushering them into God’s rule. Jesus used networking to deliver to humanity the highest level of service that anyone has ever offered.

Regardless of your line of work, adopting the Jesus style of networking can take your life and career to a new level. By networking His way, you can achieve greater success in your career or professional life. You can enhance your personal life through building more and better friendships. You can find more significance in your life by ratcheting up the level and breadth of service you provide to others. Learning to network like Jesus will help you make the most of your life for God and for others.

Rey Ybarra’s Conversations with Shark Tank Winners Book Launch

Rey Ybarra, (Episode 31) invited me out to the Conversations with Shark Tank Winners book launch in the Northern Trust Bank in downtown Los Angeles on September 17, 2013. The event was attended by many people who had appeared on Shark Tank, including, Jennie Nigrosh from the Green Garmento, Jim Tselikis from Cousins Maine Lobster, Brandon Marz from Marz Sprays, Aly Lessor from Cozy Bug, T.J. Hale, the host of the Shark Tank Podcast, and many other successful entrepreneurs and business owners.

Rey Ybarra and Zeb Welborn

The event was a blast, as we got to mingle with some of the Shark Tank entrepreneurs and we even had a panel discussion with several of the business owners themselves where they shared how they got on the show, the impact the show has had on their businesses and how excited they were to be in Rey’s new multimedia book.

Rey appeared in Episode 31 of the Defining Success Podcast where he shared with our listeners the stories of failure and success that the entrepreneurs who appeared on Shark Tank have faced.  Because we got along so well and Rey valued my opinion, he asked me to review his book before the launch.  You can see my book review of Conversations with Shark Tank Winners here – http://www.sharktankeffect.com/book-reviews.

I feel very fortunate to have met Rey Ybarra and those who have appeared on the show Shark Tank.  Rey’s book has a lot of very interesting insights about the guest who have appeared on the hit ABC Reality TV Show Shark Tank and I’d definitely recommend Conversations with Shark Tank Winners to any entrepreneur looking to build a successful business.

Thank you Rey for including me and giving me the opportunity to interview you, to invite me to your book launch and for all the kind words and exposure you’ve given to the Defining Success Podcast.  Great job!

Almost a Double Eagle

We had a great time at the tournament and it was a great success.  I even almost had a double eagle with the ball lending centimeters from the hole, leaving me with a three foot putt for eagle which I made.  It’s always a great time to get in a round of golf with successful people, especially three golfers whom I admire and get along with really well.

After being a guest on the Defining Success Podcast, Johnny Hakim and I have decided to write a book for golf course owners, and general managers on how to use social media to reach more golfers and encourage golfers to play golf more often.  We have been working feverishly and hope to be done with the book within the next couple of months.

Stay tuned for more exciting news from Greenskeeper.org and Welborn Media in our next Defining Success Podcast newsletter!

Former Guests David Kramer and Jay Miller at Los Serranos Country Club

It’s rare that two guests from the Defining Success Podcast and I are able to get together, but last week, David Kramer and Jay Miller met me at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, CA.

David Kramer, Zeb Welborn and Jay Miller at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, CA

David Kramer, Zeb Welborn and Jay Miller

Jay Miller is the Director of Business Development at Golf Card International and he met me early in the morning at Los Serranos Country Club so we could get in a round of golf.

Jay and I were the first ones out in the morning and sped around the golf course playing a round of 18 holes in a little over three hours.  The round seemed to fly be even quicker as I got to hear some amazing golf stories from Jay about his experience working and playing with some of the top golfers in the world.  Jay is absolutely one of the most interesting people I’ve ever had the opportunity to play a round of golf with.

Jay bogeyed the last hole to shoot a one over par and I played one of the best rounds I’ve played in a long time, shooting a three over par 75, at least that’s what Jay told me.  I was so invested in hearing Jay’s stories that I really had no idea what I shot.  But, I knew I was playing well.

David Kramer and Jay Miller met me after our round for lunch.  David Kramer is the Senior Vice President at Los Serranos Country Club and was one of our very first guests on the Defining Success Podcast.  He’s very passionate about golf and helping others and when he and Jay got together, it was great to see them share such memorable stories about golf and life.

David Kramer and Jay Miller have known each other for a long time as lovers of golf and have worked with each other on numerous golf-related activities in the California Golf Course Owners Association, of which, Los Serranos Country Club was named the 2012 Golf Course of the Year.

Because he enjoyed being on the podcast so much, Jay Miller recently gave me free golf cards from Golf Card International to give out to listeners of the Defining Success Podcast.  If you would like a free 3-Month Membership to Golf Card International, please visit the 19th Hole Media Website found here – http://19thholemedia.com/special-offer-free-membership-to-golf-card-international-sign-up-for-the-19th-hole/

These are definitely two of my favorite people and it was a blast getting together with both of them.  I hope we can all get together a bit more often.  Thanks David and Jay for taking me under your wing and helping me navigate the world.  I owe you both so much already.  Thanks for everything!
